About me

Dr Ishrat Husain is a highly regarded Consultant Psychiatrist at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust and director of Eos Clinic. He has extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis and management of mental disorders including depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, psychotic illness, schizophrenia, PTSD, personality disorder and stress-related emotional difficulties. His clinical and research interests are in the field of mood and anxiety disorders and he has a passion for investigating emerging treatments for these conditions. After completing his post-graduate speciality training in adult Psychiatry at the world-renowned South London and Maudsley training scheme, he joined the Camden and Islington NHS Foundation trust to be clinical lead on the Complex Depression, Anxiety and Trauma service. He established Eos Clinic in 2016 to offer high quality care for patients in the independent sector.

Dr Husain holds a visiting academic post at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London, Europe’s largest centre for research and postgraduate education in psychiatry, psychology, basic and clinical neuroscience and a centre for academic excellence. He is presently enrolled in a doctorate here, collaborating with world leading academics in the field of mood disorders to investigate novel treatments for unipolar and bipolar depression. Dr Husain has also established academic links with centres in the UK, Canada, Africa and South Asia. He has a strong interest in Global Mental Health and is involved in capacity building and training of mental health practitioners in low and middle-income countries. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training. Dr Husain has been awarded research grants from organisations including the Stanley Medical Research Institute (SMRI) in the USA.

Dr Husain’s continued involvement in mental health research means that he remains at the forefront of evidence-based treatment for mental illness to provide high quality care for his clients. Having lived in three different continents and with a keen interest in cross-cultural psychiatry, Dr Husain has a profound awareness of the impact of cultural factors on an individual’s mental well-being. He is bilingual and able to communicate in English and Urdu/Hindi.
