Dr O'Driscoll has a research interest in mould allergy in asthma. He have helped to define a new phenotype of asthma (SAFS; Severe Asthma with Fungal Sensitisation) and was involved in the first trial of anti-fungal therapy for this condition.
He is Co-Chair of the working party that prepared the UK National Guidelines for emergency oxygen and is first author of the Guideline (published in Thorax, October 2008). He is currently leading the revision of the Guideline which is due for publication in late 2015.
Dr O'Driscoll also has sub-specialty interest in interstitial lung disease (lung fibrosis), especially when associated with connective tissue disorders such as rheumatoid arthtitis or systemic sclerosis.

I have given free talks to groups of GPs when invited to do so. Topics have included asthma, interstitial lung disease and oxygen therapy.
