Consultant Rheumatologist with 20 years experience
In 2016 I was awarded the title of "Distinguished Member" by the British Society for Rheumatology in recognition of my work in the specialty.
I manage the full range of musculoskeletal and inflammatory disorders. My special interest is the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), Psoriatic Arthritis and other forms of inflammatory arthritic conditions. Other expertise includes Osteoporosis management including Dexa scanning and interpretation. I report over 1000 dexa scans each year.
With a team of doctors, specialist nurses and support staff I have developed and delivered an NHS "Early Arthritis" service for patients with RA and other forms of inflammatory arthritis. Our results in the national "Treat to Target" audit of RA care shows good results comparable with the best UK units.
We host meetings on the assessment and management of RA each year with international level speakers attracting up to 70 UK consultants, specialist nurses and Rheumatology trainees. We are invited to visit other Rheumatology units in the UK to show how our service works and demonstrate our model of care.
