Mr Butt graduated with honours from the University of Birmingham in 2004. His specialist orthopaedic training took place in the North West and culminated in being awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2012.
Mr Butt is fellowship trained in the specialty of shoulder, elbow and upper limb surgery. He undertook his UK fellowship in the renowned Wrightington Upper Limb Unit and Stockport Shoulder unit. In 2015, Mr Butt was awarded the prestigious ESSKA (European) travelling fellowship, which he undertook with a distinguished international surgeon in Milan, Italy.
His NHS practice is based at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust which is a regional major trauma centre and one of the leading hospital trusts in the UK. He is the research lead for the department and the prinicipal investigator for national research in orthopaedic surgery. He has written a number of authoritative articles on the management of upper limb and orthopaedic conditions and has published and presented his work on an international stage.
