About me

Dennis Kosuge was born and brought up in Hong Kong to a Chinese father and a Japanese mother. He left Hong Kong for the United Kingdom in 1997 to study medicine at the University of Nottingham. After spending a year as house officer at the Gloucestershire Royal Infirmary, he enrolled on the two-year basic surgical rotation at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow. It was during this time that he developed his love for Trauma & Orthopaedics and subsequently spent six months at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. This was followed by a year as Orthopaedic Trauma Fellow at The Royal London Hospital after which he embarked upon his higher surgical training on the North-East Thames Percivall Pott Orthopaedic Training Programme. During his training, he was based at The Royal London Hospital but also spent time at other centres including Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital once again. He developed his subspecialist interest in lower limb arthroplasty during higher surgical training as a result of being inspired by a number of trainers he worked for. Upon completion of his orthopaedic training, he pursued this interest in the form of a one year fellowship in lower limb arthroplasty with Professor Donald Howie at The Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia.

His patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) for primary hip and knee replacements has been published in the March 2017 edition of the British Orthopaedic Association’s Journal of Trauma & Orthopaedics:
