Dr Prashant Sankaye is a Consultant Radiologist with Musculoskeletal interest at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London. He also undertakes regular cross section imaging work.
He undertook structured Royal College approved radiology training in Southwest England and also visited the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital to gain further experience in bone and soft tissue tumour imaging. Following the certification of completion of training (CCST) he completed a prestigious fellowship in musculoskeletal and spinal imaging at Oxford. He worked as a consultant Radiologist in Oxford and Hertfordshire before joining present appointment.
He is an expert in musculoskeletal imaging using x-ray, fluoroscopy, CT, MRI and ultrasound scans. He has performed more than 5000 imaging procedures in last 2 years. These include injections into the joints, tendons, bursae, neuroma, spine injections and facet joint injections. He also performs very specialised and skilled cervical nerve root injections. He can offer almost all the musculoskeletal procedures at the short notice and will try to accommodate every patient’s request at the earliest appointment. He can perform ultrasound-guided aspirations, calcium barbotage, dry needling, Platelet rich plasma injections, tendon stripping, botox injections and nerve blocks. He can offer advanced procedures like MRI arthrograms, ultrasound guided trigger finger releases as a potential route to patients to avoid surgery. He has keen interest in sports related acute and chronic injuries repetitive strain injury (RSI) assessment and treatment.
He is a member of British society of Skeletal Radiologists, European Society of skeletal Radiologists and keenly gets involved in educational activities to keep up to date with current practice. He is a Fellow at the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and holds postgraduate certificate in medical education.
