About me

Mr Hanbury qualified in 1980 from The London Hospital and underwent specialist urology training in Cambridge, Norwich and Oxford before taking a consultant appointment at Lister Hospital, Stevenage where he has been since 1994. His clinical interests are in general urology, kidney cancer, stones, urinary tract infection and reflux. He was part of the EAU Guidelines Group for Renal Cancer from 2005-2011 and was Clinical Director of Urology at Lister Hospital for three periods. He served as Regional Representative for BAUS from 2013-2016 and Trustee from 2014-2017. Lastly he is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire

Areas of interest

General and diagnostic urology: kidney cancer; evaluation of adrenal lesions; kidney and ureteric stones; prostate disease ; bladder cancer; urinary tract infections and reflux; haematuria; lower urinary tract symptoms; testicular and penile conditions; urology related to renal failure

Procedures performed: cystoscopy; surgeries for benign prostate disease; kidney, ureteric and bladder stone removal; cystoscopic surgery for bladder cancer and open scrotal and genital procedures including circumcision and frenuloplasty. Since 2017 I no longer perform nephrectomy or adrenalectomy instead referring cases to appropriate colleagues within my department
