Consultant Respiratory Physician with a special interest in Interstitial Lung Disease
University Hospitals of Leicester
I studied medicine at the University of Cambridge and did postgraduate studies in East Anglia including at Addenbrooke's and Papworth Hospitals. I studied for a PhD in Interstitial Lung Disease under Professor Athol Wells at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London.
I am actively involved as principal investigator in a number of trials of new medications for ILD at the Respiratory Biomedical Research Unit at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester.
I have set up the British Thoracic Society-British Society of Rheumatology joint working group on rheumatological lung disease and will be coordinating the UK arms of a trial of pirfenidone in Rheumatoid Arthritis-associated Interstitial Lung Disease
I live with my wife and two children in a village on the Northamptonshire/Leicestershire borders. I spend my weekends driving my daughter to ballet or my son to rugby and enjoy spending time with the family, except for occasionally when I'm standing in the pouring rain at the side of a rugby pitch!
