About me

Dr Abozguia is a consultant cardiologist with expertise in electrophysiology and cardiac device implantation. He is the clinical lead for Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) Sevices at Lancashire Cardiac Centre, Blackpool Victoria Hospital. He was trained in the United Kingdom and the United States. He performs catheter ablations for cardiac arrhythmias such as supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) and atrial flutters as well as complex catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) and ventricular tachycardia (VT). Dr Abozguia implants simple and complex cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators. Dr Abozguia did perform the first leadless pacemaker implant in the Blackpool area.

He has IBHRE accreditation in electrophysiology (CEPS) and cardiac devices (CCDS) in the USA 2013. He was awarded a PhD Degree in Cardiology, University of Birmingham, UK 2010. He has an extensive publishing record with over 30 scientific papers in high-impact factor journals as well as over 45 abstracts. He has performed a large number of scientific presentations at a national and international level (BCS, BHRS, ESC, ACC and AHA).

Areas of interest

Assessment of palpitation, dizzy spells, syncope, blackout, chest pain, breathlessness, reduced exercise tolerance and fatigue.

Heart rhythm disorders, arrhythmia, cardiac electrophysiology, pacing and complex device implantation; Inherited cardiomyopathy, hypertension, heart failure, valvular heart disease and coronary artery disease.

I carry out ablation treatment for patients with cardiac rhythm abnormalities such as supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), ventricular tachycardia (VT), atrial fibrillation (AF), atrial tachycardia and for accessory pathways.

I implant simple and complex pacemakers and defibrillators as well as leadless pacemaker.

I report ECG, 24 hours tape, 24 hours Blood pressure monitor, stress test, tilt table test and echocardiograms.
