I am a General Surgeon with a special interest in oesophageal, gastric, gallbladder and hernia surgery. I have worked as a Consultant Surgeon at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital since 2014. I qualified from Leeds University Medial School in 1997 and completed my basic surgical training with the Yorkshire School of Surgery. Following completion of a two year doctorate in Medicine (MD) I completed my higher surgical training in Yorkshire and in the North East of England. In the final stages of this training, I worked in one of the largest oesophago-gastric cancer centres in Europe, at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle upon Tyne under the supervision of Professor S M Griffin OBE (2010-2013). Following this I completed an overseas fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery with Prof. David Watson at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide, Australia (2013-2014). This enabled me to develop a wide surgical experience within both benign and malignant diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract. I am a consultant on the busy emergency on call rota for both General and Upper GI Surgery as well as Royal College of Surgeons tutor and Regional Educational director for Core Surgical Training.
