For the last 19 years, I have worked within NHS specialist psychotherapy clinics. I therefore have experience of working within a specialist trauma service and working within an eating disorder service. Working within these services has involved me offering therapy to individuals who have been given a range of formal psychiatric diagnoses such as, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD); eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder); personality disorders; depressive disorders and anxiety disorders.
My work in the field of trauma has also involved clinical contact with Lothian and Borders Police and Lothian and Borders Fire Service personnel. I also have experience of working in Psycho Oncology. In addition to working with adults, I have also worked with young people (ages 16-25 years), on issues of sexual health and sexuality.
I am Practitioner Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Graduate Member registered with the British Psychological Society. In addition, I am registered with the Association of Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT), registered as a Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer. I am interested in how early experiences and (for some of us), trauma impact on the developing sense of self and influence our relationships with others, but also how we come to see ourselves in relation to these experiences.
I respect the uniqueness of each human being and offer short term or longer term psychotherapy according to the individual's needs and wishes.
