About me

I am an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist who has worked within the National Health Service and privately. I completed my Cognitive Behavioural Therapy training in 2006 at the Salford Cognitive Therapy Training Centre (Prestwich Hospital). Since then I have worked full time as a Cognitive Behavioural therapist with adults and young people in a variety of clinical settings. Previously from 1999 I worked as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in the UK and overseas within several clinical areas and with different roles and responsibilities.

Privately I work with young people & their families and adults with a wide range of emotional difficulties using National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) approved therapies, including CBT, EMDR, Systemic Practice. I am also a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) teacher with experience of facilitating MBCT groups in the NHS and in private companies, I incorporate this into therapy as appropriate.

I provide time efficient, confidential and private access to Psychological assessment and treatments, which have helped adults, young people, parents and their wider families understand how emotional difficulties have developed are maintained and can be improved and managed more effectively for all involved. These have included helping individuals, parents and families negotiate changes in life cycles, and deal with significant life events like exams, deliberate self harm, emotional distress and relationship changes.

I am accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) and I follow both their professional guidelines to maintain safe practice and sound clinical decision-making in collaboration with the clients, young people and parents. I receive clinical supervision that helps maintain my effective and safe standard of work. I also attend training to meet my professional development requirements.
