About me
I am a consultant in palliative medicine and clinical lead for a large NHS palliative care service in London, incorporating University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and community palliative care teams in south Camden and Islington.
Palliative care is about the person and their loved ones, so my practice, like that of my colleagues, encompasses more than physical symptom control; it is also grounded in the psychological and spiritual needs of the person in the context of their wider lives. In my NHS work I specialise in supporting patients with neurological conditions, such as motor neurone disease, progressive supranuclear palsy and brain tumours, but I also work with people who have other conditions, such as other forms of cancer and chronic respiratory disease, I have a particular interest in ethico-legal matters, including advance care planning, and in the application of mindfulness-based meditation to clinical practice.
