About me

I trained as a medical undergraduate in Newcastle and qualified in in 1982. I worked subsequently as a junior doctor in Newcastle and Cambridge before returning to Newcastle to complete an MD (with commendation) and to complete my training in Neurology. My research interest has been focused on Parkinson's disease and my MD was in acute stroke. I have 30 years of experience in the clinical practice of Neurology.

I was a consultant Neurologist at York Hospital for 22 years before leaving the NHS at the end of 2017. During this time I provided a national award winning Migraine and Headache clinic at York Hospital, as well as a specialist MS service and general Neurology clinics.

I have provided neurological opinions leading to the investigation and diagnosis and subsequent management of neurological problems in private practice private for 22 years. I have a strong interest in the management of Headache and Migraine. I see patients with common neurological problems, especially patients with Parkinson's disease.
