About me
Dr Sarah Felton is on the General Medical Council's specialist register and is a Consultant dermatologist, Laser and Dermatological surgeon at the Oxford University Hospital’s NHS Foundation Trust. Her career began with an undergraduate education at the University of Cambridge where she graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Physiology before receiving her medical degree from the University of Oxford. Her specialist dermatology training was in Manchester, leading to completion of the specialist certificate in dermatology through the Royal College of Physicians and British Association of Dermatologists.
Dr Felton is one of a small group of UK dermatologists to have completed a procedural dermatology fellowship in the USA. This was based at the world-renowned University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and provided extensive training in skin cancer diagnosis and treatment, in addition to the latest cosmetic treatments. Her main focus is Mohs micrographic surgery, a specialised technique for the removal of skin tumours, making her one of the few Mohs surgeons in the UK who has completed advanced training in Mohs micrographic surgery which is certified by The American College of Mohs Surgery. She has also experienced working in other healthcare systems including Harvard Medical School, Charles University in Prague and the University of Melbourne, Australia.
Dr Felton has presented at numerous national and international conferences including the British Association of Dermatologists, the American Academy of Dermatology, the European Laser Association and the European Society of Contact Dermatitis. She has published extensively in the field of dermatology and has additionally co-authored book chapters on skin cancer and improving cosmetic outcomes after skin surgery.
Her research interests include the effects of sunlight on the skin both in terms of photosensitivity disorders and skin cancer, leading to the award of an M.D. degree. She is the clinical lead for laser surgery and photosensitivity and supervises the training of dermatologists in general dermatology, skin cancer assessment and skin surgery.
