About me
I am a mother and grandmother and have a background in teaching - from preschool through to adult male offenders. I worked for 16 years as a psychotherapeutic counsellor with adolescents and adults in Primary Care gaining experience in a wide range of presenting problems.
Since the introduction of GP commissioning I have been working in private practice. I am founder of the Counsellors' Collective South West and have a commitment to providing the very best possible therapy in the community and encouraging new entrants to the profession through a Trainee Placement Scheme, where we select the very best trainees and place and support them in GP surgeries.
Areas of interest
I have a particular interest in issues of adoption. I am an Approved Counsellor for Adoption with Barnardo's and have worked with both adoptive families and adopted people for several years. I am on the registers of Psychology Associates, Adopt South West and Somerset County Council;
I am on the register for the Diocese of Bath and Wells, working with clergy and their families;
I am on the register of the Royal Marines Charity, working with families of ex Marines;
I have a particular interest in early attachment issues and how these can impact on suicidal thoughts
