About me

Anish Amin graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1999 and completed his surgical training in Edinburgh in 2011. He spent two further years specialising in knee surgery, foot and ankle surgery and lower limb arthroplasty (joint replacement) undertaking fellowships in Melbourne and Edinburgh.

His private practice mirrors a busy NHS practice which covers all aspects of knee surgery, foot and ankle surgery and in addition, orthopaedic trauma surgery - he is a member of the internationally renowned orthopaedic trauma unit at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. His clinical workload involves approximately 600 inpatient and 150 day case admissions each year. He runs weekly specialist clinics dedicated to the treatment of knee, foot and ankle problems and performs approximately 450 operations each year.

Anish has a particular clinical and research interest in cartilage repair surgery of the knee and ankle. He was awarded a PhD by the University of Edinburgh in 2011 for his work on cartilage injury. Anish is involved in several on-going cartilage research projects in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh. He has contributed widely to the medical literature and is an invited reviewer for leading journals in the field.
