About me

I am clinical lead for gastroenterology in Swindon and honorary lecturer at the University of Bristol. I graduated from Manchester in 1999 and undertook training in New Zealand and Australia. I travelled widely as a junior doctor, completing a post graduate degree in expedition medicine with an interest in travelling with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. After settling into specialist training in Wessex I focused on illnesses of the lower gastrointestinal tract and completed a PhD in the role of microRNAs (a type of DNA) in inflammatory Bowel Disease. I am a keen teacher and have a MSc in education. I currently coordinate part of the 5th year medical school syllabus and sit on the MRCP examining board. I believe passionately in self-improvement and encourage patients to understand and manage their own illnesses.
