About me

Mr Ali was trained as Ear, Nose and throat specialist at the University Hospitals of Belfast, Swansea, and Middlesbrough. He was a 'clinical fellow' in the Head and Neck cancer surgery at the Free University Hospital, Amsterdam, Holland. He is the most senior and experienced substantive Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeon in the area. Having completed several senior managerial, clinical, academic, teaching, training and examining positions in the NHS and university settings for over 34 years (serving NHS for the last 46 years), he has acquired a large amount of practical experience, and clinical acumen to practices ‘sensible’ medicine rather than strictly scientific medicine. There is not a lot left which he has not dealt with during his clinical life, particularly, he knows, 'when not to do things'.

He is particularly interested in children's ear, nose and throat problems.

He has published extensively on the adult ENT problems in the international peer reviewed medical press.

After thorough investigations, he prides himself in explaining and reassuring the patient’s worries about their symptoms, which may include fear of contracting any serious illness. Mr Ali has in the past focused on major Head and Neck cancer and ear surgery for over 20 years. However, now he concentrates and specialises in children’s ENT and adult Rhinology (nose), otology (ear) and laryngology (throat) problems.
