About me

About me

I am a CBT Therapist and Counselling Psychologist with 20 years experience based in Ilford and Bexley, Kent. My primary objective is to provide a welcoming, safe and positive environment in which my clients and I can work towards achieving your true potential
CBT is promoted by the Government's NICE guidelines as the initial line of intervention for most common psychological problems, such as anger, anxiety, bereavement, depression, eating disorders, panic attacks and PTSD. By using CBT the therapist aims to quickly identify problems and working with the client then develop the coping strategies and skills to resolve them.

I have been trained to work with a broad range of models and theories (CBT, brainspotting, psychodynamic, person-centred, existential and humanistic. In practical terms, my experience ranges from working with clients in short term therapy to working with severe and enduring mental health problems in longer term therapy. From my years of experience I have learnt that the relationship between the therapist and the client sits at the heart of the healing work that we undertake together.

For me it is vital that we recognise the importance of communicating and exploring understandings of thoughts, feelings and behaviour in a manner which is both clear and meaningful. Each person needs to be treated as a unique individual. Clients can choose which model and approach we work with. We can focus on the ‘here and now’ using CBT, explore the meaning of what has happened in the past or focus on their future and what we can change to make it a positive journey.
There is no set formula for successful therapy – life presents different challenges to all of us at various times. But I do know that I can help my clients move forward in a positive, supportive manner that helps them achieve a better understanding of how they feel and in doing so provide them with the insight and tools to make the right choices that will prove beneficial in their lives.

My comfortable, discrete practice rooms are located in Ilford, a 5 minute walk from Ilford Station and in Bexley close to the mainline station. There is parking at both premises.
