About me

Dr Anila George is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 13 years post qualification experience working with children and adolescents and their parents, carers and families. She is registered with the British Psychological Society and the Health Care Professionals Council.

In the NHS, Dr George is the Lead Psychologist in the Eating Disorders Team of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service in the South West London and St.George’s Mental Health NHS Trust. She also has extensive experience of providing psychological assessment, treatment and advice for Neuro developmental disorders such as Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Dr George has a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Therapy from the University of Oxford and is a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. She is highly experienced in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties affecting children and adolescents, as well as educational and parenting concerns. She is skilled in helping children and young people who are experiencing stress, adjustment difficulties, anxiety, depression and family and peer related difficulties. Her treatment approach is predominantly Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Schema Focused Therapy, but she is flexible in the use of other evidence based treatments and will integrate these into as suitable to the particular needs of the child, young person or family. She is also able to advise parents on parenting in the context of children and adolescents with behaviour problems.

A visiting lecturer for the University of Surrey on the Clinical Psychology Doctorate Course Dr George has extensive teaching experience and offers clinical supervision and training to a variety of health professionals. Dr George also runs workshops for a number of well respected Secondary Schools as part of their PSHE curriculum.
