Consultant Anaesthetist, Royal Free Hospital, LONDON NW3 2QG
Research interests
Multicentre study on Patient Feedback
I chaired a multicentre study (2013-14) looking at Patient Feedback for revalidation purposes for anaesthetists. This required developing specific criteria that were relevant to the doctor-patient relationship in anaesthesia, which is very different to the traditional model in other specialties
Decision-making of anaesthetists
I was involved in a study looking at factors determining anaesthetists decision-making when using neuromuscular blockers (completed/published 2010).
Airway disasters
I chaired a working party at the Royal College, initiated after a coroners case, looking at how Difficult Airway Society guidelines on emergency 'Can't Intubate Can't Ventilate' recommendations can be shared with ENT surgeons (2016).
Personal interests
Life-long learning and CPD for Consultants/SAS Doctors
I wrote the Royal College national guidelines for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in 2013
Impact of Generation Y (The Millennial Generation)
I have lectured at several large conferences on the impact of Generation Y culture on the medical workforce. The older generation (including me!) needs to recognise that the younger generation perceive things differently.
