About me

I am a registered Chartered Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HPC), a full member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) (and the specialist division of clinical psychology) as well as being a BABCP accredited therapist.

I have worked in the field of adult mental health since 2001 in both inpatient and outpatient clinic settings (both NHS and private sector). I currently work for the NHS as a Lead Clinical Psychologist as well as Kingston Psychology Clinic. I have broad experience of working with a range of presenting difficulties, from milder presentations through to moderate, more severe and long standing difficulties. I also have specialist training in working with people with difficulties associated with traumatic events, both in their adult life and also traumatic or abusive experiences in childhood. In my private practice I most commonly work with people experiencing difficulties with depressed and anxious mood.

I am trained in a diverse range of therapeutic models including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT, including Schema Focused Therapy), Systemic Therapy, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Mindfulness based therapies and Psychodynamic Therapy (primarily focusing on patterns of attachment relationships). I have significant post qualification training in therapeutic techniques and am able to deliver both short term and longer term therapeutic interventions depending on the needs of my clients.

As part of my NHS role I am involved in teaching, training and supervision of other mental health professionals and lead a team of clinical psychologists. My role also involves providing consultation to a range of other professionals including, for example, psychiatry, social work and nursing.

I believe that with the right support, people can make valuable changes to their lives which can significantly alter their quality of life. I work hard to form a trusting, empathic and collaborative relationship with people and strive to have a therapeutic relationship on an equal footing. I endeavour to engage people in therapy in a warm and meaningful way, whilst not shying away from compassionate discussion of the important issues.

My consulting rooms are based in central Kingston Upon Thames. I welcome referrals from individuals themselves or other health professionals can refer.
