About me

Professor Martin O Weickert has been working in leading Universities and University Teaching Hospitals throughout his career. He received his MD for his thesis “Development of an automatic immuno-assay for the direct measurement of DHEAS in serum” in 1997. Professor Weickert is registered with the GMC since 1998 and is included in the GMC specialist register for General Internal Medicine (2003) and Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus (2007).

In June 2009, Professor Weickert was appointed to the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust as a Consultant Physician for Endocrinology and Diabetes. He has pioneered the Neuroendocrine Tumour (NET) Services in UHCW. He founded and is leading the ARDEN NET Centre in UHCW, one of 42 Centres of Excellence of the European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society (ENETS) across Europe).

Professor Weickert is the Deputy Lead for the Clinical Research Network (CRN) Metabolic & Endocrine of the West Midlands since April 2014, having been a Specialty Lead of the previous Clinical Local Research Network (CLRN) West Midlands South since April 2012. He has also roles as the specialty lead for Clinical Adverse Events and Care Commissioning Quality teams in UHCW.

Professor Weickert has published more than 100 research papers in high impact international research journals, but always stayed connected with Clinical Medicine and patient Services.
