About me

AJ Clark was appointed to Addenbrooke’s, Cambridge in 2011 and returned to Edinburgh in 2013 following the retirement of David Bartolo from Edinburgh practice. He has a particular expertise in minimally invasive colorectal surgery with the largest experience in the region, outstanding quality performance indicators, and having taught on international courses and mentored consultant colleagues. Extended fellowships were undertaken in laparoscopic colorectal surgery in the renowned unit in Brisbane, and in inflammatory bowel disease and pouch surgery in Edinburgh. He studied and trained in Edinburgh, including a doctoral thesis in colorectal cancer molecular genetics. He undertakes the full range of colorectal practice including modern techniques such as HALO, stapled haemorrhoidectomy, laparoscopic ventral mesh rectopexy and cleft closure for pilonidal sinus.
