About me

Dr Morgan Haldane, MB BS BSc MRCPsych PhD, is a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in anxiety disorders and mood disorders, with a particular interest in Bipolar disorder and difficult-to-treat and treatment-refractory unipolar depression. He works in an evidence-based and scientifically grounded manner. He also takes a patient-centred, collaborative and compassionate approach in order to facilitate change.

Dr Haldane qualified from St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School (Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine), London, and undertook specialist training in psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital and Institute of Psychiatry and has carried out neuroimaging research into Bipolar disorder, completing his PhD in 2008. Dr Haldane was awarded the 2006 Wyeth Psychopharmacology Award by the British Association for Psychopharmacology (BAP) and the 2008 Samuel Gershon Award for Junior Investigators by the International Society for Bipolar Disorders (ISBD).

He has been working as a Consultant Psychiatrist since 2006, initially at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, and subsequently at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, London and has continued to be involved in research throughout. He currently works at Cygnet Hospital Beckton, London. He is on the GMC Specialist Register and holds a licence to practice.

Dr Haldane has interests in both medication-based treatment as well as psychological interventions for psychiatric disorders. He has trained in CBT, Applied Hypnosis, EMDR, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapies. He is a member of the British Association for Psychopharmacology (BAP) and the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
