I am a Consultant Neurologist. My NHS practice is based in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, Edinburgh (the regional neurology centre for South East Scotland) and involves all aspects of general and acute neurology. My particular areas of subspecialty interest are epilepsy and neurological disorders of sleep; I run a specialist epilepsy clinic within the Edinburgh and South East Scotland Epilepsy Service, and a sleep neurology clinic at the Department of Sleep Medicine, Edinburgh.

I am an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer and NHS Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh. I am currently engaged in clinical research into interactions between sleep disorders and epileptic seizures. I have authored a number of scientific publications, and given invited lectures at national and international meetings on sleep and epilespy.

I have published over 20 papers in respected peer-reviewed journals (including Brain, Nature Genetics, Archives of Neurology, Sleep, Epilepsia and Practical Neurology). I have authored undergraduate and postgraduate textbook sections in general neurology, epilepsy and sleep disorders.
