Professional profile: Mr. Nicholas Law studied medicine at St. Bartholomew's Medical School qualifying with an MB BS in 1979 and gained his FRCS in 1983. He completed his surgical training at the Royal Marsden and Westminster Hospitals. In 1988 he was awarded an MS thesis on the use of prosthetic materials for hernia repair.

He was appointed as a Consultant in General Surgery to Chase Farm Hospital in 1994 and then a Consultant in General Surgery with an interest in Endocrine Surgery to the Royal Free Hospital in 2011.

Mr. Law runs a busy endocrine practice attracting patients from within the UK and overseas. He was until last year, Lead Surgeon for thyroid and parathyroid surgery and thyroid cancer lead at the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust managing the service for all the Royal Free sites along with North Middlesex and Harlow Hospitals. As an experienced surgeon who specialises in the treatment of thyroid and parathyroid disorders all operations are performed using recurrent laryngeal nerve monitoring and where appropriate minimally invasive techniques.

Mr. Law is also a specialist in varicose vein assessment and will perform Duplex scans as a 'one stop' investigation in the clinic. Treatment includes using the modern techniques of radiofrequency ablation (VNUS), endovenous laser therapy (EVLT) and micro-sclerotherapy.

Personal profile

Mr. Law lives in Hertfordshire with his wife. He is an enthusiastic cyclist who regularly rides on and off road. He has completed a number of classic cycle rides both in Europe and the UK.
