About me

I trained as a specialist colorectal surgeon in Bristol, St Marks Hospital in London and in the USA with the Minnesota group. My research in Bristol was awarded Hunterian professorship.
I was appointed to Addenbrookes in Cambridge in 1993. This research was focused on the continence mechanism. In Cambridge I have supervised research fellows looking into the earlt diagnois of colon and rectal cancer, familial colorectal cancer and anal cancer. I am heavily involved in improving surgical services at Addenbrookes having had medical managerial roles here since sept 1993. I was Divisional Director of Surgery till 2 years ago and now am one of the deputy medical directors with a remit covering governance, informatics, EPIC,operations and RCA analysis etc
