About me
I gained my Diploma in Therapeutic counselling in 2002, at Derbyshire college, with Natural Therapy training. I then completed a years training in Person Centred Art Therapy skills, and in 2004 I completed Bereavement training with Cruse.
I went on to train with Dr Bill Webster and began to work facilitating groups of people who were coming to terms with loss and grief.
During my training I volunteered with 4 agencies. I was an adviser at a young peoples advice shop, a new deal mentor working with long term unemployed, I also volunteered at South Yorkshire Counselling service and Mansfield Counselling service.
I eventually became the counselling co -coordinator at Mansfield Counselling service in a paid post for 5 years.
In 2006 I ventured into private practice. As well as self referrals my referrals come from Shire counselling service, West Notts college where I work with students and staff, Employee assistance programs, GP surgeries and insurance companies. I have also achieved my diploma in Person centred supervision and practice as a supervisor from all three venues listed.
I have been in post as the clinical lead at Rotherham Abuse Counselling service for 4 years which works predominantly with abuse and domestic violence issues.
