About me

Mr Naveen Kumar has been appointed to the post of Consultant Surgeon in Spinal Injuries & Rehabilitation Medicine at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic and District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Already employed for the last year at the Midlands Centre for Spinal Injuries (MCSI), Mr Kumar took up his Consultant post on 28th March.

A UK resident since 2004, Mr Kumar began his medical career in India, where he qualified in 1998. He obtained two post graduate qualifications in Orthopaedics in India in 2000 and 2003. He then moved to the UK, after obtaining the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and completed his higher surgical training in spinal injuries in hospitals in Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit for Scotland, in Glasgow.

He has also worked at The North West Regional Spinal injuries unit at Southport and at the National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville.

He has worked with specialists in Cleveland, Ohio, getting acquainted with their latest methods and treatments.

He also gained his Fellowship of the European Board of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine at this time.
