Overview

About me

Mr Wand qualified in medicine in 1977 in London. He did most of his surgical training in central London before specialising in Orthopaedics. He spent a year as a Medical Research Council Training Fellow at Northwick Park Hospital, Harrow, before he was appointed Senior Surgical Registrar in Orthopaedics to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital/Westminster Hospital rotation. During that period he worked at a number of hospitals including University College Hospital, the Middlesex Hospital, Great Ormond St etc. While a Senior Registrar he developed an interest in shoulder and elbow surgery.

In 1991 he became an accredited specialist in orthopaedic surgery and was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Cheltenham General Hospital. He has since progressed his interest in shoulder and elbow surgery by attending multiple specialist meetings and courses. He introduced a sub-specialist shoulder and elbow service to the Gloucestershire Hospital NHS Trust, including trauma care. He has a particular interest minimally in invasive arthroscopic procedures.
