I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon since 1990, appointed with a major interest in spinal surgery and undertake cervical, thoracic and lumbar procedures on a routine basis. I undertake around 200 open spinal cases per annum, the majority are lumbar spine cases; around 150 discectomies and decompressions and around 40 to 50 lumbar spinal fusions using pedicle screw fixation and interbody cages. I also on average undertake around 15 cervical cases per annum, usually Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusions using interbody cages, plus or minus plates.
