I qualified in 1976 from the London Hospital. In 1985 I completed an MD thesis under the tutelage of Professor Stephen Holgate entitled Prostaglandins and Asthma. I was appointed a consultant in 1989 at Manchester Royal Infirmary where I continue to work in clinics, caring for ward-based patients and still enjoy general medical on-calls. I have been the Senior Respiratory Physician since 1991.
Despite an academic background as a consultant, I have concentrated on delivering best patient care by employing a holistic approach.
