About me

I completed my M.Soc. Sc degree in Counselling Psychology in 1998 at the University of the Freee State, South Africe. I have been working in the UK as a Chartered Counselling Psychologist since 2003.
Since qualifying, I have mainly been working with adults who present with mental health difficulties. I have experience in working in a wide range of settings including Occupational Health, the NHS and the private sector.
I draw on various models of psychotherapy to tailor psychological interventions to clients needs. These includes approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour (CBT) and humanistic psychology (eg person centered principles). In addition, I have gained form a range of post qualification training allowing me to apply different psychological techniques as appropriate. This includes EMDR (for the treatment of trauma symptoms and other negative life experiences) and incorporating principles of compassion focused therapy into my practice. I have a special interest in working with people affected by trauma with nearly 20 years experience in this field. This includes working with the general public as well as emergency services personnel.
