After qualifying from St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London, he trained in nephrology in the West Midlands, where he benefited from working at centres of excellence in the specialty. Since becoming a consultant at the Sussex Kidney Unit in Brighton, he has taken a leading role in the multidisciplinary team looking after patients with all forms of kidney problems. He leads the home dialysis team at the Sussex Kidney Unit and is also continuing to develop services for people with kidney problems in East Sussex.
He is committed to developing, maintaining and revalidating the highest standards of practice and safety. He continually keeps up to date with the latest in his specialty.

He has a PhD on the development and progression of chronic kidney disease and kidney disease associated with multiple myeloma. He continues to conduct research in these areas, as well as in dialysis treatment.
In his spare time he enjoys cycling and golf. He enjoys watching rugby union, and he is a very keen fan of the Sri Lankan and English cricket teams. He also enjoys gardening, growing vegetables and sausage making.
He has held several prestigious awards, and his work has been presented both nationally and internationally, as well as being published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, Blood, Kidney International and Nature Reviews Nephrology.
