About me

I was born in Chester and qualified in Medicine at Leeds University in 1977. I was a partner in a GP practice for some years and then trained in General Adult Psychiatry before specialising in Perinatal Psychiatry. I have held substantive posts as a consultant psychiatrist in both the UK and New Zealand, and am currently Perinatal Community Consultant for East Hampshire with Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. I am Section 12 approved and an Approved Clinician under the Mental Health Act. I am able to offer private consulations by video-link to BUPA patients in England and Wales.

General psychiatry; Psychosis; Personality Disorders; OCD; and BDD; Affective Disorders

My specialist feld is Perinatal Psychiatry - This includes preconception counselling for mothers to be with an existing mental health problem and advice on medications which are safe in pregnancy. Management and prophylaxis of pre-existing and developing mental health disorders in pregnancy. Management of mental illness in the postnatal year (including post natal depression and psychosis.
