About me

Qualified in Medicine from Queen’s University Belfast and, Core Medical Rotation Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast.
Speciality training in Oncology at Belvoir Park Hospital and Cancer Centre, Belfast City Hospital.
At the end of Registrar Training took 3 years out to pursue a PhD fellowship in Imaging in Lung Cancer Radiotherapy Treatment Planning and in particular with PET-CT.
Graduated with a PhD in Medicine from QUB in 2011 and was awarded the QUB Annual Celebration of Excellence prize for the best post-graduate research in Medicine.
During the PhD fellowship was also fortunate to win the St Luke’s Medal for quality research and the Royal College of Radiologists’ Keith Durrant Travelling Fellowship which in turn led to a Fellowship in 4D CT and 4D PET/CT with reference to Stereotactic radiotherapy for lung cancer at the Vrije University, Amsterdam. This was followed by a preceptor-ship in Breast Cancer at MD Anderson Cancer Centre, Houston, Texas.
Was appointed as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist in 2010 and an Honorary Senior Lecturer in 2012 at QUB, continues clinical and research interests in breast and lung cancer and is the PI for several breast and lung radiotherapy studies.
At present is the NI Cancer Centre Clinical Lead for 4DCT and Stereotactic Ablative radiotherapy and feels privileged to be part of a brilliant team of Radiographers, Physicists and Nursing staff implementing safer and more effective treatments for patients.
