About me

I joined the specialist training programme in the West Midlands in 2000 and obtained a CCST in 2003. I have been employed as a Consultant Respiratory and General Medicine Physician at GHH since November 2003. I completed an MD at University of Nottingham in 2005. I played a major role in developing a ward based Non-invasive Ventilation (NIV) service at GHH. NIV enables respiratory support to patients with Acute Hypercapnic Respiratory Failure (AHRF). I initiated a rapid access clinic for patients with suspected TB and developed an EBUS-TBNA (endobronchial ultrasound guided transbronchial needle aspiration) service within GHH. EBUS-TBNA is a highly accurate and minimally invasive method for diagnosing and staging of lung cancer and sampling enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes. It reduces the need of mediastinoscopies and unnecessary thoracotomies. I run a specialist interstitial lung disease (ILD) clinic which is part of the ILD service within the trust. I am interested in medical teaching and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education (2009). I am a trained Senior Clinical Examiner and have been greatly involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. In 2015 I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical law and Ethics with Merit. I am also interested in preventative medicine and am a member of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine.

In my spare hours I enjoy long walks, reading, watching musicals, and dancing, singing and fashion shows which helps me maintain a balance between busy moments and free time.
