Clinical work
I have more than 10 years’ experience at consultant level in a busy acute 560 bed hospital. I work as part of a team of eleven consultants, and I am the senior consultant in the foot and ankle unit serving a direct population of 360 000 and taking referrals from Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Buckinghamshire.

I have developed a comprehensive foot and ankle service, including trauma. My typical case mix of ankle pathology includes sports injuries, degenerative disease, tibialis posterior tendon dysfunction, osteochondral lesions, ankle instability and arthritis. I undertake short-stay inpatient arthroscopic procedures (interventional arthroscopy of ankle and subtalar joints) including arthroscopic synovectomy, treatment of osteochondral lesions, ankle arthrodesis, and subtalar arthroscopic excision of os trigonum for symptomatic posterior impingement.

My elective hindfoot reconstructive practice includes ankle replacement, open ankle, subtalar, tibio-talar-calcaneal and triple arthrodesis, flexor digitorum longus to tibialis posterior tendon transfers with medialising calcaneal osteotomy, and surgical reconstruction of pes caves.

I use open and minimally invasive techniques for chevron and Akin osteotomy (MICA), calcaneal osteotomy, distal metatarsal osteotomy and lesser toe deformity after attending the appropriate cadaveric training course at Sussex University, Brighton and operating with other surgeons specialising in these techniques. I have had no increase in complications after the first fifty cases.

My forefoot reconstructive practice includes modified Lapidius arthrodesis, basal 1st metatarsal, Barouk Rippstein Toullec, scarf, chevron, Akin and Weil’s osteotomies to that bunions, hammer toe and metatarsalgia.

I believe in tailoring non-operative and operative treatment options to the individual.
