Ms Smith joined Kettering having completed her registrar training in East Anglia. She graduated with Honours from Kings College Medical School, London in 1995. Before coming to Kettering she was locum consultants at both Leeds and Leicester Hospitals. Ms Smith is now the Education Secretary and a member of Council for the British Society of Otology and member of council for the Midlands Institute of Otolaryngology.
Ms Smith interests are otology ( including ear surgery for cholesteatoma and discharging mastoid cavities), dizziness, nasal and sinus surgery and in the NHS paediatric ENT.
