Dr Birgit Gurr has been working as a clinical neuropsychologist in Dorset for over 10 years. Her specialty is providing assessments and treatments for people who are recovering from a head injury, stroke or have cognitive or emotional difficulties in association with a neurological illness (such as MS, Parkinson’s, Epilepsy etc).
She also has extensive experience in helping people with psychological problems (e.g. anxieties, depression, anger) by applying her wide range of psychotherapy and counseling skills which include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Schema-focused Cognitive Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic-Programming and Systemic therapy.
Additionally, Dr Gurr has been uses a Bio-Psycho-Social approach to help people with complex health needs and chronic pain disorders. This means that she tries to understand people’s health problems by taking their personal situation and wider experiences into account.
Dr Gurr is working within the NHS as a clinical neuropsychologist and has been able to support many people with a combination of psychological difficulties, neurological and other physical health problems.
Furthermore, Dr Gurr is an active researcher associated with several universities and has published many articles which report the successful outcomes of her clinical work.
As part of her private assignments, Dr Gurr is undertakes medico-legal work for people who require neuropsychological investigations following an accident or assault.
Psychological assessments and treatments can be arranged in blocks of short-term contracts or, if required, longer term programmes. Private fees apply and Dr Gurr is BUPA registered.

Post treatment communication
Following treatment of a Bupa member, I will communicate with GPs in line with Department of Health, GMC and appropriate professional bodies guidelines.
