I am a consultant surgeon working in a major teaching hospital with a large practice in endocrine, hernia and general surgery.
I am trained in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and have extensive experience in the management of thyroid and parathyroid endocrine disease, acute surgical disease and gallbladder disease.
My areas of expertise in groin hernia surgery is in open local anesthetic with sedation. This operation is available to older patients, those with complicated health conditions and those wanting quick recovery times. Most patients are capable of walking out of the hospital 1 hour post surgery without needing significant pain relief.
I am Director in Outcomes and Regional Lead in Quality Improvement in emergency surgery.
I set up the Wessex Endocrine Society with the aim of improving patient experience in endocrine surgery.
Areas of interest
Endocrine surgery; Endocrine disorders; Thyroid disease; Parathyroid gland disease; Hernia (inguinal, umbilical, epigastric, incisional and femoral) repair for all ages and health conditions via open surgery using local anesthetic with sedation which reduces the impact on the body and shortens recovery time; Key-hole hernia surgery; Gallbladder surgery; Lipomas; emergency surgery; Skin Lesions
