About me

I joined the Royal Brompton Hospital in London as a consultant cardiac surgeon in February 2014 following six years at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. I had previously trained in London and completed my PhD thesis at Imperial College.

I sub-specialise in aortic surgery including complex problems of the aortic valve, aortic root, ascending aorta and arch. I have significant experience in treating endocarditis and operating on patients who had previous cardiac surgery. I am one of the surgeons operating on acute aortic dissections in North-West London.

I have extensive experience in Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), including over 1300 operations, which I perform mostly without using the cardio-Pulmonary Bypass machine. I use multiple arterial grafts.

I perform Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR) though a mini incision and using sutureless valves when appropriate. I am an international instructor for the implantation of the sutureless LivaNova Perceval valve.

I am very interested in training junior surgeons and have been responsible for trainees as their Clinical and Educational Supervisor and Surgical Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons. I regularly participate in the National Selection of new trainees in Cardiothoracic surgery in the UK as a panel member.

My research interests include data analysis in aortic surgery, aortic dissection, sutureless AVR and training in coronary surgery.
