About me

I trained at Charing Cross Hospital, where I returned as a registrar, research fellow then Lecturer in the Vascular unit. I undertook my Senior Registrar training in the West Midlands before being appointed Consultant in General and Vascular surgery at Colchester Hospital in 1992.
I have a strong interest in minimally invasive therapy for varicose veins and introduced a one stop venous assessment clinic in Colchester, as well as Ultrasound Guided Foam Sclerotherapy and Endovenous Laser treatments in 2005/6. I have extensive experience in assessment and treatment of varicose veins with most treatment performed under local anaesthetic.
I perform all the Parathyroid surgery and a significant proportion of the Thyroid surgery in Colchester (approx. 70 cases per year ). Hernia surgery is regularly undertaken both laparoscopically and open using local or general anaesthetic as indicated or preferred. I have over 20 years experience of Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy.
I am the Divisional Director of Surgery at Colchester Hospital. I was the lead clinician for Vascular surgery until 2014 and in this role I led the expansion of the Vascular Department to a six consultant team providing major arterial surgery to patients from East Suffolk and North Essex.
