I qualified as a medical practitioner in 1987. I completed a research that led to an MD in Gynaecology. I have also trained in Medical Oncology obtaining a diploma in the field. I became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, UK in 1996 at the early part of my training and became successful in my first attempt. Subsequently I trained in North London Specialist Training Scheme in Gynaecology and Obstetrics. I worked in busy inner City London Hospitals The Whittington, The North Middlesex University Hospital and The Royal Free Hospital. I was an Administrative Senior Registrar and also Clinical Research Fellow at The Royal Free Hospital where I trained in minimal access surgery and in cancer surgery. I have always had an interest in Gynaecological Surgery and its further developments. I feel strongly about the cosmetic aspect of surgery and I strive hard to maximise the benefit of surgery with minimal discomfort and disfigurement. I am an Advanced Minimal Access Surgeon (Key hole surgery) having expertise in Advanced Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy. I perform key hole surgery for hysterectomy and also advanced surgery for the endometriosis.
I have extensive experience in general gynaecology, menstrual disorders, endometriosis, polycystic ovaries, hormonal problems, menopause, recurrent infections, cystitis, vaginal or uterine (womb) prolapse, pelvic floor surgery, polyps, ovarian cysts, hysterectomy specially key-hole surgery.
I am an accredited colposcopist and trainer with further accreditation in Gynaecology ultrasound and minimal access surgery. This certainly helps me to provide “One Stop” care for women with menstrual disorders, bleeding after menopause and concern of ovarian cyst. I additionally experienced in major gynaecological surgeries as well cosmetic surgery for e.g. complicated major surgery, vaginoplasty, labial refashioning and reduction. I have specialist knowledge and skills in managing problems such as abnormal cervical smears, colposcopy, screening of gynaecology cancer and treatment of early gynaecology cancers.
I always wanted to be a Gynaecologist and chose the specialty as I wanted to contribute in providing the women freedom to make informed decision regarding their own health issues. I strongly believe that there is no one treatment that fits for all. Every woman is different and therefore should be treated as an individual. I concentrate understanding in detail about the problem, how is that affecting her and her surroundings and provide the best possible treatment. It is absolutely paramount that a best treatment is only possible when a woman feels empowered to make that decision.
I have a strong interest in teaching and training future generation of doctors and gynaecologists. I am an undergraduate examiner for the University of Birmingham Medical School. I am preceptor for advanced training skill modules for higher specialist training at the West Midlands Region. I organise hands on training courses for the doctors. I have been honoured with Alan Gordon Fellow Award by the British Society of Gynaecology Endoscopy.
I have a strong interest in the latest development and research. I have written guidelines for the management of suspected gynaecological cancers. I have presented, lectured and chaired in National and International Scientific meetings. I have obtained research funds and published in peer review journals like British Medical Journal (BMJ), British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (BJOG) and Health Planning and Management Journals. I am a medical reviewer for the National Institute of Academic Anaesthetists and British Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
I enjoy still photography. I have an eclectic interest in cooking. I have a wife who is a General Practitioner and two daughters.
