About us

Dr Jane Dunbar, Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine MBChB, FFSEM, DRCOG, Dip SEM, DTM&H , FISM
Qualified in Medicine from St Andrews and Manchester Universities. She joined a GP practice in 1989 and started providing sports medical cover at Golf Tournaments and a local Rugby Club. She has provided golf medicine event cover continuously since 1993.
She gained a Diploma in Sports medicine (1994) and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports Medicine (UK) and was the first woman in the UK to gain specialist recognition in Sport and Exercise Medicine.
She has worked at 3 Commonwealth games, 3 Olympic games and is working at the commonwealth games and Ryder cup this year.
She also runs an NHS sports medicine clinic, lectures in sport and exercise medicine and consults at a private clinic.

Dr Michelle Jeffrey, Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine FFSEM MRCGP DFFP DRCOG Dip SEM(GB&I) BSc(Hons) MBChB PgC(MSK USS)
Graduated from Glasgow University in 1996, Michelle has spent over 11 years developing a specialist interest in SEM at primary and secondary care levels and has completed a post-graduate certificate in musculoskeletal ultrasound.
She is a Fellow of the UK Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine and has recently worked as a locum SEM Consultant for the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Unit at Headley Court.
Michelle has experience working as a Chief Medical Officer for Scottish Athletics, and providing SEM support at the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. She is the SEM lead physician for the Scottish Institute of Sport, East Region. Michelle will be a doctor in Team Scotland’s medical team for the Commonwealth Games, Glasgow 2014.

Careen Mackay, MSK Team Lead Physiotherapist
Qualified with a 1st class in Physiotherapy in 2007 and was awarded the CSP Scottish board prize for academic achievement. She has been working as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist since graduating, gaining extensive experience in assessing and treating musculoskeletal problems and sports injuries.
She has since completed an advanced diploma in sports therapy, a diploma in Orthopaedic medicine, acupuncture training and the APPI pilates matwork series.
She has worked at 2 Natwest Island Games treating track and field athletes, footballers and swimmers. She has a keen clinical interest in lower limb biomechanics with the associated cascade effect and spinal/pelvic muscle imbalances.

Jonathan Kilpatrick, Senior MSK Physiotherapist
Graduated in 2006 with a 1st Class in Physiotherapy, he is an experienced physiotherapist with 7 years private practice experience gained within the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
Jonathan uses a hands-on approach to treatment that includes a range of treatment techniques complimented by selected home-based exercises. His treatments include spinal manipulations/mobilisations, acupuncture, massage, clinical pilates, sports taping and rehabilitative strengthening. Currently Jonathan is working towards completing a master’s degree in Sports Physiotherapy.
Jonathan enjoys working with his patients to treat the underlying causes of their injuries, ensuring they do not recur or affect other parts of the body. His clinical areas of interest include back and pelvic pain and the sporting shoulder.
