About me

I trained in South East Thames Orthopaedic training scheme, Guys, St Thomas, and Kings College associated hospitals with further training at University of Liverpool. I passed the FRCS (Ed) and FRCS (Glas) exam in 1979 and M Ch Orthopaedics, Liverpool in 1982 and FRCS Ed Orthopaedics in 1983. I worked as consultant orthopaedic surgeon from 1984 to 1992 overseas. I was then appointed consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Sandwell West Birmingham Hospitals, West Midlands in 1993.

From 1984 to 1992, I took the opportunity to visit several international centres and underwent training in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle joints, and I have maintained this interest. I have performed hundreds of total hip and total knee replacements, anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions, and multi-ligament reconstructions of knee. Currently I perform minimal invasive total hip, total knee and shoulder replacements. I also perform a full range of arthroscopic shoulder operations, shoulder stabilisations, rotator cuff repairs and reconstructive surgery for fractures around the shoulder.

I regularly attend the American Academy meetings, and British British Orthopaedic Association, and British Society of the Knee and Shoulder surgery meetings. I have a flexible appointment system focused on patient needs and am able to offer very high quality care. I work with an excellent group of physiotherapists and rehabilitation team, which aid to get my patients back to pre-injury fitness as soon as possible.
