About me

Mr Aylott qualified as a doctor in 1998 and completed Higher Surgical Training in Bristol with internationally recognised spine fellowships in Nottingham, Auckland (New Zealand), and Bristol. He is also uniquely qualified with a degree in Mechanical and Materials Engineering from Nottingham University and has a Doctorate in motion preserving technologies in the spine.

Appointed to the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in June 2010 he specialises exclusively in spinal surgery and the management of back and neck related problems. He has led the development of an integrated Spinal Service in Gloucestershire and the surrounding counties, implementing new referral pathways, multidisciplinary team working, clinical governance, and training across the county. He also has an academic role as tutor to Bristol University medical students.

Mr Aylott sees most spinal pathologies including spondylolisthesis, disc herniation, spinal stenosis, spinal injuries, tumours, osteoporotic fractures, infections and spinal deformity. He uses fusion and non-fusion technologies such as disc replacement. He can offer percutaneous solutions (eg.kyphoplasty) and minimally invasive surgery where appropriate. He offers a sensible approach to spinal problems based on sound decision making.
