I am an accredited independent Consultant Gynaecologist and also an accredited Specialist In Reproductive Medicine.
I qualified at the University of Bristol in 1975. During the first eight years after qualification I trained in General Surgery as well as in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. I have the following additional postgraduate qualifications:

Since 1984 I have specialised in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. I have been a Consultant Gynaecologist and a Consultant Specialist in Reproductive Medicine since 1990, initially in the University Department at St Michaels Hospital Bristol.
From 1996-1999 I was Deputy Head of Reproductive Medicine at St Michaels Hospital Bristol. In 1999, I moved to Southmead Hospital in Bristol as Head of Reproductive Medicine until my retirement from the NHS in 2014. I was involved in planning and the establishment of the Bristol Centre for Reproductive Medicine at Southmead Hospital, which opened in 2008 and has been in the top 10 IVF units in the UK since then.
I have done extensive research in many aspects of reproductive hormone disturbances and fertility, including assisted reproduction, with over 100 publications.

Reproductive medicine; male and female subfertility; polycystic ovary syndrome; fibroid surgery; tubal reconstructive surgery and female sterilisation reversal;
hirsutism; postmenopausal HRT.

I have been extensively involved in research in all areas of reproductive medicine and surgery, including IVF and laboratory research.
I have been the author of more than 100 publications in scientific journals, numerous chapters in postgraduate textbooks, co-author of a textbook of Undergraduate Obstetrics and Gynaecology and also co-author of a book for patients "Understanding Infertility" which has been translated into several languages.
